Keep your doors and window covered
Colorado is notorious for having blue skies and sunny days. We also lack landscaping that helps keep our homes covered. When the blazing sunshine filters in through windows and doors, it lets the heat in too. Install shades, blinds, or drapery to block the sunshine, keeping the cool in and the heat out.
Time your heat-generating appliances use
Some appliances provide heat that can change the temperature of your space. Ovens, dryers, dishwashers – all add extra heat into the space around it. On the hottest days, avoid using these appliances. If need be, use them at night once the temperatures start falling.
Change your bedding
If you haven’t looked at bedding in a while, you might be surprised with the options. Cooling bedsheets have the ability to pull away moisture and keep you cool all night long. You may like them so much they become a staple in your bedroom.
The hotter it gets outside, the more liquid you need to stay safe and healthy. You might be less active, but don’t let that fool you into thinking you don’t need as much water. Plus, ice water can make you feel cooler as you take it in. stay hydrated and stay safe.
