Do you really need to service your furnace regularly?
Think about all your furnace goes through in a year.
Here in Colorado, your furnace can operate almost every month of the year. Colorado’s weather can change 30, 40, even 50 degrees or more in a matter of hours. That can lead you to use your air conditioner one moment, and your furnace the next.
That’s a lot of wear and tear on the system throughout the year.
Still, for most of us, the furnace starts running daily sometime in the fall. That’s a great time to get your furnace serviced to ensure it is operational before the coldest days of the year. Some professionals will tell you up to 75 percent of all service calls in the winter months due to no heat stem from maintenance issues. If the homeowner would have a maintenance schedule in place, and provide regular cleaning to the HVAC system before it’s used daily, it would be easier to catch the little things before they blow up into big problems.
A maintenance visit of a furnace inspection will prolong the life of the furnace, provide better energy efficiency, and decrease health risks from toxic fume buildup. If you check in with your furnace’s manufacturer, you’ll find most recommend getting the equipment inspected and serviced once per year. This gives a technician a chance to look at the entire system, and ensure everything is working right before the coldest days of the year set in.
It usually involves things like:
And this is just the start. Think of your furnace technician as the go between for your safety and comfort all season long.
When was the last time you scheduled service for your furnace? Maybe today should be the day you do it.
