We’ve been living inside a pandemic for almost a year. You’ve spent more time at home in the past year than … well, ever. Remember eating in restaurants and watching movies in the theater? They seem like a distant past.
As the world slowed down and we spent hours at home working, attending school, even working on hobbies and other activities via Zoom calls, it also means we’re relying on the systems of our homes to keep us safe, dry, and warm.
Imagine living through the last storm where temperatures dropped below zero without your HVAC system in place.
Now imagine staying healthy … without your HVAC system in place. Have you ever stopped to consider the role your HVAC system plays in your health?
While your HVAC system might not be directly related to COVID, the air quality circulating in your home is dependent on how well your HVAC system operates. If allergens, airborne pathogens, and other contaminants are inside your home, they can move through your HVAC system, impacting every room in your home. Unless your HVAC system is in good shape.
The problem stems from HVAC care. When was the last time an HVAC technician gave your system a check up? When was the last time you replaced your air filter? When was the last time you considered what’s deep inside your ductwork?
Your HVAC system is designed to provide comfort in the form of heat and cooled air. It’s designed to blow conditioned air to every room in your home, creating a pleasant atmosphere for you to live in, work in, and spend time with your family and friends.
But it can’t do that if it isn’t working optimally.
Start with a new air filter. You can pick them up at your local big box store. Don’t skimp on quality – pay attention to the MERV rating. That impacts what is allowed to move through your HVAC system and into your air supply.
Then schedule a maintenance visit today. At a minimum, you should have your system checked at least once a year – at the beginning of the heat and cooling season is better, to ensure your systems are in optimal condition and ready to work hard for you as record-setting temperatures set in.
When was the last time you thought about your HVAC system? Maybe now is the time.
